Education Minister Fayval Williams has welcomed the Caribbean examination council’s decision to push back the start date for exams by three weeks.

The start of the 2022 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate, CSEC & Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination, CAPE has been rescheduled to May 23.

The Minister has noted the relief expressed by Jamaican students, parents and teachers after CXC acknowledged that more time was needed to complete school based assessment projects as well as to prepare for the exams.

The Minister had written to the CXC earlier this year, requesting the extended time and also made a special appeal to the Chair of CARICOM’s Council for human and social development to call an emergency meeting to address the concerns of Jamaican students.
