Following a public statement by Prime Minister Andrew Holness on social media yesterday, opposition senator Damion Crawford has sought to defend the entertainment industry.

Speaking earlier today, Mr. Crawford said, contrary to the Prime Minister’s assertion, an attempt to resume entertainment last year did not lead to a spike in Covid 19 cases in the country.

This was also the view of many social media users who pointed to election campaigning activities as the major contributor to the spike seen in the island last summer.

The Prime Minister’s statement, which came in the form of a tweet, has since been deleted.
