The new coronavirus has been declared a global emergency by the World Health Organization, as the outbreak continues to spread outside China.

The concern is that it could spread to countries with weaker health systems.

The death toll now stands at 170 people in China.

The Organization said there had been 98 cases in 18 countries outside of the country, but no fatalities.

In light of this we offer a few tips for travellers:

-Avoid contact with sick people.

-Avoid animals (alive or dead), animal markets, and products that come from animals, such as uncooked meat.

-If you travelled to China in the last 14 days and feel sick with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing:

-Seek medical care right away. Before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room, call ahead and tell them about your recent travel and your symptoms.

-Avoid contact with others.

-And finally………….Do not travel while sick.
