Minister with responsibility for Education, Karl Samuda, has given the assurance that the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) is not in jeopardy of losing its accreditation in the wake of the deepening corruption scandal rocking the tertiary institution.

This follows concerns raised by some CMU students about the future of the university.

Mr. Samuda and officials from the Education Ministry met with the staff of the maritime university Thursday afternoon.

He said there will be no disruption in the CMU’s operations.

However, the University will have a new council within three weeks.

Dr. Grace McLean, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, disclosed Thursday afternoon that all the members of the previous council have now resigned.
