Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie says Jamaica could reach the peak of the fourth Covid wave in the next three weeks.

Speaking at a Covid-19 press briefing on Thursday, the CMO said, in that week, the country could report some 11, 500 confirmed cases.

In addition, she said the Covid bed occupancy could increase to some 2, 500.

According to the CMO, over the last week the bed occupancy has risen from under 200 to around 400 beds being occupied.

She said with 55 point nine per cent of communities affected, and admissions increasing daily, several hospitals have had to consider curtailing some activities.

And in terms of deaths, the CMO said it is projected that deaths could range between 200 and 300 at the peak of the fourth wave.
