CMA Responds To Kranium

Share

The Caribbean Music Awards were facing some heat after Kranium took to social media to blast them for an award mix-up.
According to Kranium, the CMAs reached out to him a week after he received the award for Caribbean R&B Dancehall Artiste of the Year, which they said was an error.
The "Gal Policy" singer then said he felt disrespected because the CMAs wanted to give him another award (Caribbean R&B Dancehall Song of the Year), which was not listed.
Kranium, in a six-minute-long video, said he felt violated by their actions and even went on to post a photo of the trophy in the garbage to symbolise his disgust.
Yesterday (September 16), the CMAs took to their social media to address the issue.
According to the CMAs, the unfortunate mix-up was due to “human error”. They explained that due to last-minute category debates, outdated documents were used when preparing winner cards, leading to Kranium being wrongly announced.
The CMA then stated that fan votes declared Dexta Daps won Caribbean R&B Artiste of the Year with 40.8%, while Kranium only received 12.6%, and explained that Kranium’s team was informed before the show aired and apologised again for the error on their part.
The back and forth continued with Kranium firing back almost immediately with an Instagram post, captioned, "Since I'm 12% tomorrow I'll give my 100% since a styling thing unuh deh pon."
The "Higher Life" artiste then followed up with a third Instagram regarding the situation, saying that their apology was a second attempt at disrespecting him and calling their retort downright shady.
Fans are torn; some are on Kranium's side, while others state that they feel like there's more to the story!
Either way, Ziptocrats, we will be staying tuned and giving you the updates!
