Chronic Law Confirmed to be Detained by ICE

Dancehall artist Chronic Law, recently reported to be in US police custody, has now been confirmed to be in the custody of US federal law enforcement agency Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, colloquially referred to as ICE.

Currently, ICE's online database lists the artist, real name Ackeme Campbell, as “in ICE custody.”

According to local media, sources close to the artiste seek to reassure fans that “the case is not [as] serious as bloggers are making it out to be.”

ICE reports that the detainment occurred in Florida, where Chronic Law is based, at a traffic stop. He had been detained on gun-related charges.

ICE has been widely criticized for its aggressive approach to immigration enforcement, recently making headlines with the murder of US citizen Renee Good in a Minneapolis raid.
