Chief of Defence Staff designate Commodore Antonette Wemyss-Gorman was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, this morning (Thurs).
The ceremony took place at the Caribbean Military Academy, Up Park Camp in Kingston, where outgoing Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General Rocky Meade made the presentation of the new rank.
Rear Admiral Wemyss-Gorman is set to formally assume command of the Jamaica Defence Force at 2 pm.
This appointment will make her the first female Chief of Defence Staff of the JDF.
