‘Cheap Thrills’ Certified 9x Platinum in the U.S.

‘Cheap Thrills’ by Australian singer Sia and dancehall superstar Sean Paul is now certified 9x platinum in the United States of America.

The certification was issued yesterday (June 3) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after the song reached 9 million units in sales and streaming.

The song is expected to be Sia’s second diamond certification; her first was for her 2014 single, “Chandelier.”

The song marked Sean Paul’s fourth top song on the Billboard charts and his first chart-topper in ten years. For Sia, Cheap Thrills was her first number-one Billboard song, making her the first woman over 40 years old to top the Billboard Hot 100 since Madonna’s ‘Music’ in 2000.

‘Cheap Thrills’ was released in 2016. The lyric video on YouTube currently has 1.8 billion views.
