Dancehall deejay Cecile is calling out Jamaicans to raise thier voices in protest for a Jamaican man who was killed by a white police State Trooper in New Jersey, two days before George Floyd was murdered.
In the caption on Instagram, Cecile wrote, “Well, let’s see how strong the Jamaican community is, or how much we care.”
On May 23, during a routine traffic stop with a New Jersey State Police Trooper, Maurice Gordon, who was unarmed, was shot multiple times. The 28-year-old Chemistry Major was originally from Spanish Town, Jamaica.
Cecile comments come following a string of local protests demanding justice for George Floyd who died in Minnesota on May 25, after a white police officer kneeled on his neck for 8-minutes.
Protesters also carried plaque cards demanding justice for Jamaica’s Susan Bogle, who was killed in her bed by a soldier as he and other army men reportedly searched for a wanted man.
