Grammy-winning international artist Burna Boy has stepped in to help families devastated by the mass shooting at a child’s birthday party in Stockton, California, that left four young people dead and 11 others wounded on Saturday, Nov. 29.
US authorities said the victims ages 8, 9, 14 and 21, via the Associated Press, were killed when gunfire erupted inside a crowded banquet hall where more than 100 people had gathered for a party.
Now, Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, who has received 13 Grammy nominations and won Best Global Music Album in 2021 for 'No Sign of Weakness', has quietly taken action to support the grieving families.
According to his team, Burna Boy heard the story while listening to morning radio show The Breakfast Club and was especially moved by the story of one victim, Amari, a 3.8 GPA student-athlete whose future was cut short.
Upon learning more about the families, he contacted industry figures to offer immediate help. His contribution will fully cover funeral expenses for all four victims.
