Reggae icon and founding member of the reggae group ‘The Wailers’, Bunny Wailer, was finally laid to rest yesterday at his family property, Dreamland Farm on the border of St Thomas and Portland.

The funeral was originally scheduled for June 18 but according to reports “The family didn’t want any crowds or large gathering and wanted to adhere to the Government’s COVID-19 protocols, so they decided to just do everything on one day.”

The memorial service was held at Perry’s Funeral Home in Spanish Town and many Jamaican officials were in attendance. Minister of Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, Opposition Leader Mark Golding and State Minister in the Ministry of Culture and Member of Parliament (MP) for the St Andrew South constituency, Alando Terrelonge, were all there to pay their final respects.

Friends, family and fans who were unable to attend the funeral due to the ongoing covid-19 protocols, had the opportunity to watch the ceremony on Bunny Wailer’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Bunny Wailer was admitted to the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston and later died on March 2, 2021. He had been in and out of hospital since his second stroke in July 2020. He was 73 years old.
