Globally acclaimed K-pop boy band BTS have announced they won't be submitting their music for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards.
The band shared the decision in a joint statement posted across all seven members' Instagram accounts, saying "We have decided not to enter the Grammys this year...I hope that music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language."
The announcement comes despite expectations that their comeback album Arirang and its chart-topping single Swim would be strong contenders in several major Grammy categories.
The controversial decision arrives amid ongoing debate surrounding the Recording Academy's new Asian music category, with fans arguing it separates Asian artists instead of recognizing them alongside the broader field.
