Veteran dancehall entertainer Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Price was in the building Saturday, May 11, for the IRAWMA awards at The Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, to claim what many will say is a well-deserved award.

When his name was called for him to be bestowed with the special Reggae Dancehall Icon Award, an elated Bounty walked briskly from his seat at the back of the auditorium, up on to the stage and smilingly accepted his trophy.

Once on the stage, he not only accepted his award graciously, he also took the mic and addressed the audience.

Bounty also gave advice to the organisers, stating that while it was good that they decided to stage the event in Jamaica this year, they need to keep it here for a few more years before they move to another country.

Killer, speaking with the local media, said even though he won a Grammy with Jr. Gong, this IRAWMA award means more to him than the Grammy.

He says the IRAWMA knows of his work and has decided to recognise it, labeling the award ceremony our Grammys.

Other winners on the night were Vybz Kartel, Spice, Koffee, producer Notnice, among other artistes and industry players.
