The Governor-General of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, has bestowed the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer upon reggae singer Nadine Sutherland, dancehall veterans Rodney “Bounty Killer” Pryce and Moses “Beenie Man” Davis, and veteran actress Audrey Sylvia Reid, individually, for the contribution to the Jamaican Music and Film Industry.
The awards were handed over this morning (October 21), at the National Honours and Awards Ceremony 2024, commemorating this year’s National Heroes Day.
In an interview with the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), Bounty Killer said he feels "excited and elated, humbled and achieved" for the commendation. Beenie Man said on IG that he feels "Honored and grateful! A huge thank you to the Governor General for presenting my OD to me. Also, a heartfelt shout out to Prime Minister Andrew Holness and the Honourable Babsy Grange for your unwavering support. Together, we continue to uplift our culture and community."
Vybz Kartel, in congratulating Bounty said, "CONGRATS MI FATHER. YOU A THE PEOPLE CHAMPION FROM DEN TILL NOW."
