BOB MARLEY MAKES MAJOR SALES FROM OLD GUITAR

Reggae icon Bob Marley’s old Guitar sold for a big US$153,600 at auction. 

Reports are that the guitar initially was estimated to reel in between US$80,000 and US$100,000 at the Julien’s Auctions’ annual Icons and Idols Trilogy: Rock and Roll, held in Beverly Hills, California.

The instrument, is a 1975 Ovation 1612-4 Custom Balladeer acoustic-electric, Featuring a natural spruce top and shallow back and ebony fingerboard.

The guitar was sold with a letter of authorization from Jonathon Olsen, the son of Benji Levy, who left it to him prior to his death.

Marley, who died at age 36, in 1981 of cancer was known as a competent rhythm guitarist. He is known world wide for his contribution to reggae music.
