Board Chairman of the HEART/NSTA Trust, Edward Gabbidon has resigned.
Mr. Gabbidon formally tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister, last Friday.
His resignation follows recent concerns that there was a potential conflict of interest related to the Chairman’s business operations.
Mr. Gabbidon has, however, maintained, that despite concerns over the relationship between his company and the Trust, he has always operated with the highest level of transparency during his tenure as Chairman.
In a statement last night (Mon), the Prime Minister thanked Mr. Gabbidon for his service to the Board and to Jamaica, adding that a new Chairman of the Trust will be named shortly.
He added that a strategic review of the Trust is underway, following the report of the Commission for the Transformation of Education report, which was delivered earlier this year.
