Billboard’s latest Reggae/Dancehall Fresh Picks roundup is basically a roll call of who’s running the Caribbean sound right now and, surprise surprise, Jamaica is very much outside!
Big moments include Keznamdi celebrating his first Grammy, while producers DJ Mac and CrashDummy continue running the streets with their viral “WYFL” riddim.
Cultural heavyweights like Protoje’s Lost In Time festival and Shaggy’s Island Music Conference also get props for putting Jamaica on the global map.
On the tracks side, Vybz Kartel scored big with “Panic,” featuring Shenseea, and “Clock Dat” with Trinidadian soca star Yung Bredda, showing once again why he’s dancehall royalty.
But one of the artistes really making noise is Valiant. His single “You Deserve Better,” produced by Daseca Productions, stands out with its moody, seductive vibes and smooth delivery.
