The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has announced major changes to its schoolboy football competitions ahead of the 2026 season, affecting the Manning Cup, daCosta Cup, Walker Cup, and Ben Francis Cup.
ISSA president Keith Wellington said the revised formats, developed after wide consultation, aim to improve competitiveness, reduce costs, and enhance the overall experience for players and fans.
The new structure introduces seeded teams and a group-stage second round for the Manning and daCosta Cup, while all eligible teams will now enter the knockout competitions.
Wellington said the overhaul will reduce the number of games, provide more rest for players, and restore prestige to the cup competitions.
