Beyoncé unveils a new single from King Richard titled “Be Alive.”
The song was first teased in the movie’s trailer King Richard, which stars Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father to decorated tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams.
Critics say the song is filled with themes of love in regards to family, Blackness, and achieving goals in the midst of struggle.
Not counting her assist on the remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s chart-topping single “Savage,” “Be Alive” is Beyoncé’s first release since 2019’s Lion King: The Gift and its deluxe upgrade in 2020.
Last year also saw Beyoncé liberating the visual album Black Is King, a companion of sorts to the aforementioned Lion King piece
