Dancehall artiste, Beenie Man has issued an apology to Trinidadians following some controversial remarks he made about their popular street food, Doubles.
In a video posted on social media yesterday (February 6), Beenie Man expressed his regrets for the comments made and addressed the criticism stemming during a guest appearance on the US podcast Drink Champs on February 1.
During the podcast the self-acclaimed “King of the Dancehall” expressed his admiration for Trinidad and Tobago, but admitted that he does not eat doubles, jokingly adding that even stray dogs wouldn’t eat the street food.
The “Gyal Dem Sugar” acknowledged that he should have kept those opinions private and expressed regret for making the comment publicly.
He emphasized his love for Trinidad, noting that he visits the island frequently, especially during Carnival, and highlighted his close friendship with cricketer Dwayne Bravo.
