General Manager of the Banana Board, Janet Coney is calling on the private sector to assist in the fight against Tropical Race 4 disease, TR4. TR4 is a deadly disease which affects bananas and plantains.
Noting that the disease spreads easily and could wipe out the entire banana industry, Ms Coney says it’s quite expensive to prevent the disease from entering the country as well as managing it if it does.
She’s calling on the private sector to assist especially in raising public awareness about the disease and how to prevent it.
