Ban on licenses for events at Pearly Beach following bottleneck in St Ann

A ban on licenses for events at Pearly Beach, which was considered as the main cause of Saturday’s bottleneck in St Ann, has been imposed following an emergency meeting between stakeholders at the St Ann Municipal Corporation on Sunday.

Mayor of St. Ann, Sydney Stewart said the police made that advice as the primary disturbances were caused due to an event being held at Pearly Beach.

The local corporation, the police, the National Works Agency (NWA), and the St Ann Development Company (SADCo), a subsidiary of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC), which owns Pearly Beach, were all present at the meeting.

The traffic snarl stretched as far as Drax Hall to the west, and the Ocho Rios pier in the east.

Heavy rainfall also compounded the situation.
