First Instagram, then Twitter and now Balenciaga.

It has been confirmed that the Kering-owned company Balenciaga, has cut ties with rapper and fashion mogul Kanye West.

After sharing their 3Q results on Thursday (October 20), parent company Kering shared that the French fashion house would no longer be working on projects with Kanye.

Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” Kering said in a statement to WWD (Woman’s Wear Daily).

Reports are that the decision comes after Ye continued to cause controversy within the fashion industry and on social media.

In recent weeks, Ye has taken to social media, specifically Instagram and Twitter, to air his divisive comments, which includes antisemitic comments, comments about his ex-wife’s family and their coparenting relationship. Both social media platforms have since blocked him from their sites.

Ye recently opened at the Balenciaga summer 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week. This was where the rapper wore a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt, which resulted in a media uprising against Ye.

This fall-out with Balenciaga comes after Adidas said it was reviewing its relationship with Ye. There are reports that the USA based Anti-Defamation League is urging Adidas to sever ties with Ye.
