Apple Music Releases Its 100 Best Albums List

This morning (May 21), Apple Music released its list of the 100 Best Albums of All Time, and fans are divided.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill landed at Number One, ahead of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Abbey Road by the Beatles came in at number three, Purple Rain by Prince & The Revolution at number four, and Blonde by Frank Ocean at number five.

While the ‘Beyhive’ expected Beyonce in the top five, Bey’s Lemonade album was at number 10, and she is the only female on the list to have two albums in the top 100.

Something fans noticed was that more than 22% of the albums on the list were from the hip-hop/rap genre, making it the most represented genre there.

The only country album on the list was Kacey Musgraves’ “Golden Hour,” which enraged many country fans.

The comment section on Apple Music’s Instagram was explosive, as fans snapped at the results.

One fan commented, “Don’t ever make any type of list,” while another stated, “Delete the list, babes. Mariah and Whitney deserve better.” Producer Diplo commented, “Do a hundred worst albums next 🥳📉 that would go viral”.

Several fans were shocked at Lauryn’s album surpassing Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which some regard as the “best album of all time.”

Jamaica was represented on the charts, with Bob Marley & the Wailers’ “Exodus” sitting at number 46 on the list. Despite ending up in the middle of Apple’s list, “Exodus” is currently enjoying its 227th week at number one on the Billboard Reggae Charts.
