Amsterdam becomes first capital to ban meat and fossil fuel ads

Amsterdam has become the world’s first capital to ban public advertising of meat and fossil fuel products.

Since 1 May, ads for burgers, petrol cars, and flights have been removed from billboards and public transport spaces.

The move aligns with the city’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and reducing meat consumption.

Officials say the policy reduces climate-impact messaging and discourages unsustainable consumption habits.
