Amorim Stern On Not Letting Academy Players Start

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has defended his decision to largely sideline academy players this Premier League season, including Kobbie Mainoo.

Amorim stressed he picks players based on readiness and the team’s needs, prioritizing winning over youth opportunities.

Mainoo, who has made just 171 minutes in nine substitute appearances, wanted a loan move to secure more playing time but was blocked.

Other academy prospects, like Tyler Fredricson and Shea Lacey, have also seen minimal first-team action.

Amorim offered no guarantee that youth players will feature, even when senior stars are absent for international duty.
