Dancehall artiste Aidonia has long been known as a quiet celebrity, avoiding media interviews and statements. However, ahead of celebrating 20 years in the music business, he broke out of his media avoidance to have his first interview in about 10 years.
Speaking with Yendi Phillips on her YouTube programme, Odyssey with Yendi, the "Agony" artiste spoke about his musical journey and his longevity in the business. He also opened up about the loss of his first son, Khalif.
While speaking about his son, he revealed that Khalif's voice was mixed into his hit track "Yeah, Yeah", much to the surprise of the show's host. He also shared that he lived a "nightmare" during Kalif's battle with illness and admitted to losing himself during that time. On a brighter note, he expressed that he didn’t know he could love again until his youngest, Kenzo, restored his faith in it.
His openness has surprised fans, as Aidonia has always opted out of speaking through the media. The 4th Genna leader preferred direct statements through his social media and letting his music speak for himself. Following the passing of his 9-year-old son in 2022 and the birth of his 1-year-old in 2023, he became even more elusive.
