The City of Boston has officially declared March 13 “Aidonia Day.”
The proclamation, issued by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, was presented to the 4th Genna deejay during a performance at the capacity-filled House of Blues Boston on Friday night, recognising his global impact on dancehall music and his role in promoting Caribbean culture worldwide.
The honour was delivered in the middle of Aidonia’s high-energy set during the Reggae Fest one of four-city tour stop, drawing loud cheers from fans inside the venue.
In the official proclamation, Mayor Wu praised the artiste for becoming “one of dancehall music’s most influential and dynamic voices.”
The statement also highlighted his leadership of the J.O.P. (Jag One Productions) movement and hits such as Yeah Yeah, IG Girls, Nuh Boring Gyal among others, which have connected Caribbean audiences and global listeners through dancehall’s unmistakable rhythm and storytelling.
