In another case of who was wrong, the promoter or the artiste, social media decided to be the judge!
Over the weekend, dancehall mogul Vybz Kartel broke his silence following the sudden cancellation of his appearance at the One Caribbean Music Festival in Trinidad.
The event, which took place at Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain, was expected to see the likes of Vybz Kartel, Moliy, Chronic Law, Sizzla, Lady Lava and Malie Don. But what was promised to be the holiday weekend, the experience of a lifetime, was tainted just hours before showtime.
The "Summer Time" artiste's team issued a statement confirming he would no longer perform due to a contract dispute.
Taking to social media, the "World Boss" set the record straight by sharing his perspective on the situation, offering fans his version of events amid the confusion.
Take a listen to what he had to say:
Kartel then apologised to his Trinidadian fans for his absence.
Shortly after, Trinidadian fans were hit with another wave of disappointment as Moliy's team issued a statement saying that Moliy would not be performing as well, as they did not receive any directives after landing as well as encountering contractual breaches. Eventgoers also said that Sizzla, who was also billed to perform, in fact, did not.
Some users have drawn comparisons to the ill-fated Fyre Festival fiasco, which happened back in 2017.
