Sean Kingston Back In Court As Trial Begins

Share

Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston appeared in federal court on Monday for the start of his trial, where he faces charges related to a $1 million fraud scheme.

The 34-year-old artist and his mother, Janice Turner, 61, are accused of multiple counts of grand theft and wire fraud.

Jury selection is currently underway, with 45 potential jurors being narrowed down to 12 and one alternate. Turner has requested a new attorney due to conflicts with her previous legal representation.

Kingston was arrested in California in May 2024, the same day authorities raided his South Florida mansion, leading to Turner’s arrest. The investigation follows a lawsuit claiming Kingston failed to pay for luxury items. Turner also has a history of legal issues involving false loan applications and bank fraud.

If convicted, both face up to 20 years in prison for each of the six counts against them.

The trial is set to continue in the coming weeks as both sides present their cases.
