American rapper A$AP Rocky was acquitted on both counts in the shooting case involving his former friend A$AP Relli.
The announcement came after a jury deliberation of about three hours. Overcome with emotion, Rocky leapt into Rihanna’s arms after the verdict was handed down.
RiRi later took to her Instagram story to celebrate. The post read, “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE! THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY [praying hands emoji].”
The “Praise The Lord” rapper had been facing up to 24 years in prison after being accused of firing a handgun twice at Relli near a Hollywood hotel in November 2021. He was arrested in April 2022 and charged with two felony counts of assault with a firearm.
ASAP’s Bajan Queen, Rihanna, who shares two young children with him, was present in court for the final days of the four-week trial.
Following the verdict, Rocky posted “DON’T BE DUMB” on X, a reference to his long-delayed fourth studio album of the same name. Initially set to release in August 2023, the album faced delays due to leaks and sample clearance issues.
