Dancehall artiste Marlon Plunkett, popularly known as Kiprich, was charged under Section 18A of the Offences Against the Person Act for allegedly using audiovisual content to promote criminal activity.
According to a release posted on the Jamaica Constabulary Force's (JCF) official IG, the charge stems from a song that he allegedly recorded endorsing gang violence.
The 'Telephone Ting’ singer denies the allegations, with his attorney claiming a dubplate he created was altered to include inflammatory language.
The dubplate emerged following the death of Othniel “Thickman” Lobban, the alleged leader of the One Order Gang, who was killed in a police shootout.
Kiprich is set to appear in St. Catherine parish court on February 21 and had been named a person of interest by the police last Friday.
Meanwhile, dancehall artiste Skippa, who was listed as a person of interest last week in a bulletin issued by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), has since been released.
