It has been a few weeks since superstar Beyoncé announced that she had a special announcement slated for today (January 14).
The Beyhive went buzzing, eagerly awaiting what the big news could be, with several fans speculating a tour from the Queen of the Beyhive.
However, this morning, the “Texas Hold Em” singer took to her Instagram account to reveal that there would be a delay in her official announcement due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires in and around Los Angeles.
The post read, “The January 14 announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles. I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss. We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community…” while imploring persons to support her ‘BeyGood’ foundation.
While several fans considered the act considerate and praised Bey for “reading the room,” several persons uttered their disappointment in her postponement.
Over the weekend, iconic pop star Beyoncé donated USD$2.5 million (through her BeyGood Foundation) to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Fund, specifically targeting businesses lost in the Eaton Fire.
The Eaton Fire affected the historically Black community of Altadena, including several working-class families.
Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, herself was impacted by the Palisades fire just last week when she lost her Malibu home.
Tina has, however, been focusing on gathering resources to help the less fortunate.
