A 5-year-old girl perished in a house fire on Whitehall Avenue, in St. Andrew on Wednesday afternoon. The identity of the child has not yet been released.
It’s reported that the blaze occurred sometime after 2 PM.
Following cooling-down operations, the charred remains of the girl were reportedly found in a bathroom.
A resident of the community said two adults, who are physically challenged, were rescued from the blaze.
He said rescuers were not able to get to the girl, even though they could hear her screaming for help.
