Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that there will be a reduction of General Consumption Tax GCT on electricity from 15 to 7 per cent for all Jamaica Public Service customers, starting next year.
This was among the announcements made by at the Jamaica Labour Party’s 81st annual conference, in Kingston, today.
Mr. Holness also revealed a plan, which, among other things, will see the debts of several persons who had been disconnected from the national water commission’s network, waived.
He added that many students will soon benefit from subsidized transportation.
Mr. Holness also addressed hotel workers, who recently staged several protests across the island, over wage and poor working conditions.
