As the new academic year gets underway, the Education Ministry says it will redouble efforts to ensure no studentĀ is left behind.
The 2021/2022 academic year begins today with students returning to online classes or remote learning.
This is the second year that students are starting the year outside the classroom because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last year the ministry indicated that about 120,000 students had not engaged in classes and the summer school programme was among initiatives introduced to address learning loss.
Education Minister Fayval Williams says this school year, more devices are in the hands of students and the government is working to eliminate the digital divide in terms of access to devices, improved connectivity, affordable data plans and the provision of rich content to engage students.
She says audio learning apps have been added to the resources available for students to learn, remotely.
Ms. Williams adds that two 24 hour television channels have been launched to assist students at the primary and secondary levels.
