U.S. Tennis Association announces mental health initiative

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced a mental health initiative for players on Tuesday, with the main draw of the U.S. Open kicking off next week.

It says Competitors at Flushing Meadows will have access to the tournament’s “comprehensive medical services program,” which will include access to mental health providers and “quiet rooms” on site.

The year’s final major unfolds as mental health in sports has become a hot topic.
