Gov’t gets $1.8b Grant to upgrade Health Facilities

Jamaica has received a grant of 10.2 million euros or 1.8 billion Jamaican dollars from the European Union Caribbean Investment Facility, to assist in upgrading health facilities and developing human capital.

Ambassador of the European Union Marianne Van Steen stated that the grant is to help Jamaica to address non- communicable diseases, such as cancer and diabetes.

She added that it will be used to rehabilitate or build ten health centres in St. Catherine, St. Ann and Clarendon as selected by the Ministry of Health.

Minister of Finance Dr. Nigel Clarke said the government is pleased with the cooperation with the EU.
