Farmers reportedly lost approximately 34 million dollars worth of crops, due to the passage of Tropical Storm Elsa at the weekend.
The revelation was made by Minister of Agriculture Floyd Green.
He said 1,600 farmers were affected by Elsa, with Clarendon being the hardest hit parish, followed by St. Catherine, St. Thomas and St. Andrew.
Mr. Green said despite the numbers, the loss in most of the affected parishes was less than 10 percent.
He advised that the government has started their response to the damage and farmers should be receiving aid as soon as assessments have been completed.
