Wyclef Jean has broken his silence on the assassination of Haiti President Jovnel Moïse and the ongoing violence that has been taking place in his native country.
The musiscan tweeted today that he’s saddened by the dramatic daily events in Haiti.
He calls the assassination of the president an attack on the institution of the presidency. He said: “My prayers r with his family & 4 my Haitian brothers & sisters who are the daily victims of this chaotic situation.”
After years of civil unrest and protests declaring Moïse’s resignation, the president of Haiti was killed in a “highly coordinated attack by a highly trained and heavily armed group” of men who raided his Port-au-Prince home in the wee hours of the morning.
His wife, First Lady Martine Moïse, also succumbed.
