Dance-hall artiste Moses Davis, otherwise known as Beenie Man, has been fined $150,000 JMD or three months in jail for breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act when he appeared before the court yesterday.
Last December, Beenie Man was charged after hosting an illegal party in Shrewsbury district, St. Elizabeth on November 29. He was then summoned to the Black River Police Station on January 1st and later charged with breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act.
Earlier last month, Beenie Man pleaded guilty to a breach of the Disaster Risk Management Act. After his court hearing on Monday, he said that he is ok with the outcome of the case as he doesn’t want anyone to feel as though he is above the law.
