Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the development of two major airport projects in Jamaica: a new passenger terminal at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay and the construction of the long-anticipated Negril International Airport in Westmoreland. These projects are part of a broader strategy to address the nation's challenges while realizing its potential.
In addition to these airport developments, Dr. Holness highlighted several ongoing infrastructure projects, including:
The US$320-million South Coast Highway, which will connect Harbour View in East Kingston to Port Antonio in Portland.
The US$225-million Montego Bay Perimeter Road.
A significant investment in the Lucea Bypass Road in Hanover.
These initiatives represent substantial infrastructure investments, with the Prime Minister emphasizing that the level of spending planned over the next five years will surpass what had been allocated over the previous 30 years, aiming to improve security and overall national development.
