The Catherine Police have arrested and charged a man heard threatening a woman in a viral telephone conversation on Tuesday, March 30.
Charged with Malicious Communication and Preventing a Person from Buying or Selling is 46-year-old Peter Maye, a farmer of Hartlands District in St. Catherine.
Reports are that about 8:20 p.m., Maye called the complainant , who is a vendor at the Ochi Rios Market, via phone call and made several threats to kill her. The complainant became fearful for her life and as a result had to stop from going to the market.
The police got wind of the situation and carried out a swift and detailed investigation, which resulted in the woman being located and Maye being arrested on Saturday, April 2.
He was subsequently charged yesterday (Wed). His court date is being finalised.
