Just earlier this month, American singer, Chris Brown broke records after he sold out the largest stadium in Africa within two hours for his upcoming South African tour. Due to the overwhelm of ticket sale, a second concert had to be added at the 94,000-capacity stadium.
However, this morning the “Sensational” singer is facing backlash from a women’s right advocacy group called Women for Change.
The group has launched a petition seeking to ban the singer and choreographer from taking the South African stage due to his history of alleged violence against women.
The petition at the time of production had over 28,000 signatures.
According to the petition, Brown’s performance is scheduled just days after the global commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based violence making it an insult to the women affected by violence in South Africa.
