Mandeville Mayor Claims MP And Minister Politicizing Market

Share

Mayor Donovan Mitchell of Mandeville has criticized Manchester Central Member of Parliament Rhoda Crawford and Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie, accusing them of politicizing the repairs for the Mandeville Market.

Mitchell, representing the People’s National Party (PNP), expressed concerns over Crawford's visit to the market, which occurred just one day after gunmen tragically killed two people and injured five others.

Crawford, however, reiterated her commitment to advocating for the market's repairs.

The redevelopment of the Mandeville Market, which is currently in a deteriorated state, was previously planned to transform the space into a modern, multi-storey complex through a public-private partnership.

However, these plans were shelved, further intensifying political tensions surrounding the issue.
