Streaming site Netflix has made an announcement that the period series Bridgeton, is their most-watched.
The final numbers are in, and Season 1 of Bridgerton was watched by a record of 82 million households around the world
The company also claims that the show has “made the top 10” in each of its markets except for Japan, and has hit number one status in 83 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, France, India and South Africa.
It pushed down to No.2 the previous record holder, The Witcher with 76Million views in its first 28 days. The fantasy hit debuted back in December 2019.
Bridgerton, a Regency romance drama, created by Chris Van Dusen, is set in London 1813 at the end of Britain’s Georgian era. It’s produced by Shonda Rhimes, of Grey’s Anatomy fame. The show has created a buzz since it debuted at the end of last year, not least because of its steamy love scenes, including a “self-pleasuring” scene early in the season.
