The US Embassy has issued a level three travel advisory for its citizens travelling to Jamaica.
A level three advisory means travellers should avoid all non-essential travel.
The US Embassy says the Department of State is advising U.S. citizens to reconsider travel to Jamaica due to health and safety measures and COVID-related conditions.
It says medical services in Jamaica are limited.
The announcement was met with derision on social media, with many noting that the U.S. remians the hardest hit nation on Earth by the virus, and with deaths continuing to rise.
