The Transport Authority TA could soon be using technology to take action against public passenger vehicle PPV operators for infractions on the roads.
Senior legal officer at the entity, Ewan Simpson, told JIS News that the entity is also looking at utilising evidence gathered from closed-circuit television cameras CCTV through JamaicaEye and working in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security and the National Works Agency NWA.
Simpson argued that with the use of video evidence, transport operators will no longer have to worry that a decision is being made against them based on the word of the police or TA inspectors, as what would be relied upon is the objectivity of recorded evidence.
