Residents of Westmoreland will be under tighter COVID-19 restrictions for the rest of the year.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the restrictions yesterday amid a dramatic spike in COVID-19 cases in the parish.

Mr. Holness said, starting today (Wed), the nightly curfew in Westmoreland will begin at 7:00 p.m. nightly and end at 5:00 a.m. daily until December 31.

The gathering limit has also been reduced from 15 to 10 people.

The maximum number of people allowed at burials remains 15.

Grand market activities have been cancelled in the parish.

Mr. Holness warned that there will be further restrictions if the situation escalates.
